The Hewitt Partners 10-Step Process

An executive search is initiated once we spend sufficient time to develop a complete understanding of the position to be filled and the essential professional, technical, and personal qualifications of the individual to successfully meet the job assignment.
Step 1:
Preliminary Research
and Consulting
We want to become fully cognizant of your organization and the position we are being asked to fill. In this process, we become acquainted with various staff members and their backgrounds and experiences. Our objective is to source candidates who combine the right chemistry with the appropriate experience and qualifications. It is of the utmost importance that we fully understand your organization, its structure, and its operating requirements.
 
Step 2:
Job Definition
In concert with your organization, we will draft a job description and candidate specification package which delineates the scope, authority, and responsibility of the particular job assignment. It will identify the criteria for preliminary candidate evaluation. It is absolutely essential that the candidates and we understand precisely what the position entails and the unique characteristics sought by your organization. The quality of our candidates depends upon the realistic objectives, which this document establishes.
 
Step 3:
Search Plan &
Strategy
An action plan to produce the most qualified candidates, with a work schedule and timetable for results are developed for your review of our performance.
 
Step 4:
Industry Consultations
to Identify Prospects
Systematic research of targeted organizations is undertaken to source potential candidates. Through a variety of resources, we will identify key candidates whose responsibilities and accomplishments are relevant to the criteria for success established by your organization. We identify candidates through an assortment of resources including contacting industry resources and accessing our extensive research library and national databases.
 
Step 5:
Screening &
Interviewing
Prospects
The most qualified prospects are selected for in-depth interviews, backgrounds are explored, and credentials are documented and verified.
 
Step 6:
Introduction
of Candidates
The most suitable candidates are presented for your consideration. A written report provides facts about the candidateÕs experience and accomplishments, as well as our assessment.
 
Step 7:
Interviews
with Candidates
From several candidates presented, you conduct one or more interviews. We provide assistance in structuring these interviews for maximum benefit and add our professional perspective to the subsequent evaluation.
 
Step 8:
Comprehensive
Reference
Checking
You determine the preferred candidate. We complete comprehensive reference checks with those qualified to comment on the candidate's leadership, accomplishments, integrity, ethics and other relevant characteristics.
 
Step 9:
Negotiation
Once mutual interest is established we will assist in negotiating the compensation package and employment arrangements. This is a critical stage requiring utmost skill and tact. The manner in which this is accomplished is key to completing a successful recruiting effort.
 
Step 10:
Follow Up
Our service to you does not end with the successful conclusion of a search. To prevent a communication breakdown, we periodically contact you and the hired executive to assure that the expectations of both parties are being met.
